About Dr. Gartner
Dr. Sven Christer (Chris) Gartner, a native of Sweden, graduated from Princeton High School in New Jersey. He received his B.A. in 1974 from Indiana University, distinguishing himself as an All-American placekicker for the Hoosiers. After playing football in the NFL, Dr. Gartner earned his D.D.S. from Indiana University in 1981 and was elected into the OKU honorary dental society. Selected as the single orthodontic resident in 1981, Dr. Gartner completed a three-year residency in orthodontics at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Gartner is active in many professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, the Illinois Society of Orthodontists, the Chicago Dental Society, the European Orthodontic Society and the World Federation of Orthodontists. Dr. Gartner has given presentations in the U.S. and Japan and is a former Associate Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at Northwestern Dental School.
Dr. Gartner and his wife, Barbara, reside in Park Ridge with their children, Ellen, Anna, and Carleton. In addition to volunteering as a Rotarian and with his church, Dr. Gartner enjoys spending time with his family, especially supporting the athletic and musical endeavors of his children. Dr. Gartner's other loves include sailing, golf and tennis.
